Measure the area where you want to install the turf.
Gather all necessary materials and tools, including turf rolls, adhesive or seaming tape, utility knife, shovel, rake, compacting machine, infill material (if required), and safety equipment.
Clear and prepare the area
Remove any existing grass, vegetation, or debris from the installation area.
Ensure the ground is level by using a shovel and rake to fill in low spots and remove high spots.
Install edging
Install edging along the perimeter of the installation area to create a clean edge and keep the turf in place.
Use materials such as bender board, treated lumber, or metal edging, and secure them firmly into the ground
Base preperation
Lay a base material, typically crushed rock or decomposed granite, to provide drainage and stability.
Spread the base material evenly across the area and compact it using a compacting machine to create a firm surface.
Lay weed barrier
Lay a weed barrier fabric over the compacted base to prevent weed growth through the turf.
Cut and position turf rolls
Roll out the turf rolls in the installation area, ensuring they are positioned in the correct orientation.
Cut the turf rolls as needed to fit the shape of the area using a utility knife. Be sure to cut from the backside of the turf to avoid damaging the fibers.
Join turf sections
If multiple turf rolls are required to cover the area, join them together using adhesive or seaming tape according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Ensure the seams are tight and secure to create a seamless appearance
Trim edges
Trim any excess turf along the edges of the installation area using a utility knife, taking care to create clean and straight edges
Secure turf
Secure the edges of the turf using landscape stakes or nails, especially along the perimeter and seams, to prevent shifting.
Apply infill
If recommended by the manufacturer, spread infill material evenly over the turf using a drop spreader or by hand.
Brush or rake the infill into the turf fibers to help them stand up and provide stability.
Brush and fluff
Use a stiff bristle brush or power broom to brush the turf fibers against the grain, which helps them stand up and look more natural.
Join turf sections
Lightly water the turf to settle the infill and help the fibers stand up.
Allow the turf to settle for 24-48 hours before heavy use
